TODAY EXPRESS NEWS : India’s fastest growing and one of the leading national multiplex chain Carnival Cinemas led by Dr. Shrikant Bhasi reopened its most iconic and heritage flagship property, Odeon Carnival Cinemas at Connaught Place in Delhi. Mr. Kunal Sawhney, Vice President, Operations, Carnival Cinemas along with Chief Guest Shri Manish Sisodia (who also holds the Education, Finance, Planning, Tourism, Land & Building, Services, Women & Child, Art, Culture & Languages portfolios in the Government of NCT of Delhi) inaugurated the revamped theater.
Odeon Carnival Cinemas houses two screens with a total seating capacity of 592 seats (screen 1 & 2 has 284 and 308 seats respectively). It has been refurbished with the state-of-the-art facilities, opulent interiors, Dolby Atmos sound, high luminosity 3D screens, plush leather sofa seating arrangements (32 in screen 1 and 28 in screen 2), a wide array of F&B and gourmet cuisines and the best-in-class services which blend today’s audience requirements with the theatre’s nostalgic charm.
This 80 years Old theatre was converted into a Multiplex Cinema Hall owning to the increasing trend in Multiplexes in Delhi in 2009. It is centrally located and lies in close proximity to hip and happening restaurants & food outlets in Connaught Place hence making it one of the preferred Movie Theatre destinations through the 1970s up till today. The original Theatre housed a Single Screen Hall that was opened in 1939 that later was converted into a two-screen multiplex by (then) Big Cinemas (now Odeon Carnival Cinemas after the acquisition of Big Cinemas by later in 2015) that took 3 good years to construct. And now this is its third mega makeover – it was first renovated in the 1960s.
